In 2018, the City of Bellevue was the first community in the area to implement a cart-based solid waste disposal program. The program was designed to extend the useful life of our landfill and stabilize long-term pricing by encouraging recycling. Other benefits we hoped to achieve were faster curbside service and decreased litter in our neighborhoods. The numbers tell us the program has succeeded in diverting more waste from the landfill to the recycling center, however, the most important measure of success is that residents are happy with their service.
