Winter Weather Service Tips

Winter weather is here, along with the challenges it presents for trash and recycling collection.

We would appreciate your cooperation to help ensure our drivers are able to provide you with safe and timely service by keeping the following tips in mind:

Winter weather may cause route delays, cancellations, or even early starts. You can find route updates published on our website and Facebook.  We also send notifications via the app and email to customers with an email on file, so if you know snow or ice is on the way, please check these resources to stay informed.

Roadways must be cleared for us to travel them.

Contrary to popular belief, our trucks do not do well on snow covered or icy roads. Instead, they quickly pack snow into ice, creating a dangerous situation.  Just because SUVs can navigate a street does not mean our trucks will be able to do the same.

If your street is not cleared, we may not be able to provide service until road conditions improve. Please be assured that we will be back to provide service as soon as it is safe to do so and will pick up extra trash that has accumulated due to a missed pick up.

Residential carts should be clear from snowbanks.

We know it’s not always possible to have your cart completely clear as it may snow after you’ve left home for the day, or a snowplow goes by and pushes snow in front of it after you’ve already cleared it. However, your efforts to make your cart accessible are greatly appreciated and help keep our drivers safe.
